Come Join My Daily Writing Sprints! - Seth Ring | LitRPG Author

Today, we have an advertisement! Well, not really, but sort of. I wanted to let you know about a really cool thing that we’ve been doing on my YouTube Channel. I’ve been running writing sprints, six of them each day, Monday through Friday, or at least as many days during the week as I can manage.

Here’s how it works: I go live at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. People join the stream, and then at 9:00 a.m., we kick off our very first writing sprint. I have a video on writing sprints and how impactful they can be. You should definitely go and watch it.

In brief, writing sprints are a concentrated period of time where all you do is focus on writing. They’re really effective because you set a timer and have absolute focus during that period, knowing that you’re not going to be focusing indefinitely. Your brain knows that it’s going to have relief from the difficulty of writing, so it tends to focus even better.

So, from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m., we do our first writing sprint. After that, we have a 10-minute break. During that break, we chat. People can ask me questions, and I can answer them. We eat food, or at least I do. I do love my snacks. We interact around writing content.

Once those 10 minutes are up, we turn our timer on once more and run another sprint. This pattern continues—30 minutes on, 10 minutes off—until just about 1:00 p.m. By that time, we’ve gotten six sprints in. During those six sprints, I’m able to write between 8,500 and 10,000 words, which is my overall daily goal.

It’s been fantastic watching people join the sprints day after day, making progress in their own work. So while I’m writing my book, they’re writing theirs.

Now, I will be on vacation for the next week and a half, which means that the next sprint isn’t going to come until February 12th. But if you subscribe to the channel and hit the notification bell, you’ll be notified when I go live. On top of that, you should definitely set a calendar reminder for the 12th.

If you can’t make it to a writing sprint, that’s okay. You can join in whenever you’re available. The videos go up on YouTube, so you can always watch them back as a helpful tool to help you sprint.

You don’t even need my writing sprint videos to do your own writing sprints. You just need a timer and some concentration. But I have found that writing with other people is incredibly rewarding. There’s something really cool about motivating each other to continue writing and to make progress on our manuscripts.

We even have people who aren’t writing manuscripts. We had someone who was writing a song, people writing poetry, and someone who was writing reports for their job. You can really use these sprints for just about anything.

So that’s the advertisement. If you’re looking for a good writing community, this is it. Most weekdays, we jump on at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, and we sprint until 1:00 p.m. You should definitely come and join us. It’s going to help you with your writing habit, inspire you to make progress on your manuscript, and it’s just fun to hang out.

Remember, the next one comes on February 12th, and hopefully, I’ll see you there.
